Environmental and Sustainability Support – Buchan Biogas Peterhead
Sonas Energy supported Buchan Biogas early stage project development and planning application for Peterhead gas to grid project. The project takes organic feedstocks inteh form of energy crops and food waste to produce biogas and organic fertiliser. The facility receives energy crops ( mostly grass silage) and pre-processed food waste by tanker for a food wste pre-prcessing plant.
The plant has three 5000 m3 digestor tanks with a hydraulic retention time of c56 days. The majority of the bio-gas created is upgraded to biomethane and injected to the intermediate pressure gas grid using a amine scrubber technology.
Sonas carried out early stage modelling for the plant, and the environmental and sustainability statement in support of planning.
